Gladys Cooper played the part of Eva  (Head of the Saxonia Corps) "one of six bright young things" in the musical "The Girls of Gottenberg" in which Gertie Millar and George Grossmith were the stars.

"Play Pictorial" stated that they thought "The Girls of Gottenberg" was "the most emphatic success that Mr George Edwardes has ever had at the Gaiety".

It was during her performance in "The Girls of Gottenberg" that Gladys first caught the attention of her future first husband, twenty-six year old Herbert Buckmaster.
