"Milestones", a play in which Gladys Cooper had her first real success as a straight actress.  The play ran for six hundred and seven performances over eighteen months.  Gladys played the small but showy last-act part of the Hon. Muriel Pym in an "Upstairs Downstairs" kind of family saga which started in 1860 and had by the time of Gladys' entrance got as far as the 1912 present.
